Red Mustard Microgreens Seeds

  • Mustard is a very quick plant that should not be soaked, as it is mucilaginous. (Mucilage is a thick, sticky substance that all plants produce, some more than others. Basically, if you soak mustard seeds they will turn water into quite a thick substance and you won’t be able to sprinkle them in your compost).
  • Sprinkle the seeds onto a disc of compost and press gently.
  • Cover with a thin layer of compost.
  • It is recommended that you use a microbiologically tested compost to ensure that pathogens such as ecoli are not present.
  • Keep the compost moist (but not soggy).
  • It is best kept at a constant temperature of about 20oC.
  • You should see signs of germination after a few days.
  • Cut after about ten days.
